Officials from KS Bank have been educating the students at Johnston County Early College Academy on ten financial literacy topics that all teens need to know. During the past six weeks, KS Bank has conducted five sessions on teen financial literacy covering topics such as: good habits and bad habits with money, needs versus wants, credit card debt, paycheck deductions, saving money, planning for "rainy days", investing money, budgets, Internet scams, and insurance. Each session was led by bank representatives from different departments in the bank. Financial Literacy for Teens, a book written by Chad Foster, was used as the base text for the sessions. This book was written for teens in a simple language so they can understand the basics of the financial community.
This financial literacy project is part of KS Bank's 85th Anniversary celebration.
"As a corporation, we want more youth in our market areas to understand financial issues so they don't get in financial trouble early in their lives. In addition they need to understand what it takes to save enough money for their future retirements. It has been a great experience for us to teach these Early College Academy kids. I hope we have been a catalyst for them to want to learn more about personal finances," said Michele Grady, KS Bank Marketing Director.
Olivia Anderson, a student at Early College Academy said, "KS Bank has helped me. They gave me information on managing my money not just for now but throughout my life."
"Financial literacy is one of the most important lessons we can teach our youth today. We know how quickly adults can find themselves in deep debt. Cary Lane Cockrell, principal of Early College Academy stated that, "In these economic times a lot of us forget that our students are impacted just as much as we are. In order for them to become productive citizens, they need to be educated on financial basics. As part of the 10th grade Civics curriculum, students are introduced to personal financial literacy. We wanted to give our students a head start on those topics to not only better prepare them for that class but also provide them the knowledge needed to apply for summer jobs and to begin investing early. Upon graduation, you must then pass certain examinations in order to receive a license to practice in your chosen field.
The major pharmacist examinations are the North America Pharmacist License Examination or NAPLEX and the Multistate Pharmacist Jurisprudence Examination or MPJE - both are administered by the National Association of Boards of Pharmacy. You may also be required to pass additional examinations, depending on the rules in your state so its better to check with the state authorities regarding their particular requirements. In addition, if you plan on moving to another state, you may also be required to pass that states pharmacist examinations.
A pharmacist is usually given the job of managing a pharmacy or drugstore. They are assigned to provide drugs to patients that have been prescribed by doctors and other healthcare practitioners. A pharmacist is also required to supply information to patients regarding other drugs, like the best brands when it comes to over the counter drugs.
