Pears Oil-Control Soap its being promoted in a big way these days. But thats not the reason why I picked up this soap. With the goodness of lemon flower extracts that are supposed to have astringent and oil-control properties, I felt that its a soap that would be just right for my acne-prone, oily skin. And indeed it is a wonderful product; I have been using it for several weeks and I love it. The soap itself is transparent and pale-greenish in colour; the aroma is quite pleasant and soothing to the senses and lingers on for quite sometime. And the best part - despite having astringent qualities, it didnt dry my skin.

5 Stars Worth Trying!
I am very much into skin care since I was in my teenager. From Shiseido, Estee Lauder, Clinique, Dior, Lancome, La Mer, Prevage, Trish McCoy, Guerlain to Aveeno.. almost every name brand you can find on the counter or department store - I try them all. I wasnt very keen on Olay when I tried it in my early 20s - I just do not like its texture and smell - it also irritates my skin. I didnt touch this brand - OLAY for over 20 years.
When I saw their break through product Pro-X line - I put a big question mark on its quality and price. In November 08, I saw they were promoting its starter kit at Amazon and I thought I would give it a try - a very last try..at least.
Surprisingly, it works! I look at all the ingredients written on it, went to their site and learn more about this product. Also study hard enough to ensure those anti-wrinke ingredients are the ones that I am looking for, eg: peptide. is in that jar.
I put on their SPF 20 lotion in the morning and this cream in the evening. I could tell the difference after a few days. The face is some what tighten up a bit and the texture is a bit smoother. However, it does not contain any ingredients that can brighten up my skin color. Some of my chickie friends use this as welll and we compare our end result after one month. They all claimed that it improves and tighten their skin!
What I like best:

I was recently sent a couple of things to try out from Aventine Hill Bath Emporium. Bacterial Vaginosis (BV) is a vaginal infection caused when the bacteria in the vagina overrun the bacteria in the vagina. Womens vaginas all have a normal balance of microorganisms, if this sense of balance is upset this creates the BV infection. Unlike most sexually transmitted diseases, this infection results from the bacteria in the vagina becoming unbalanced. One of the most common complaints for women is inflammation fo the vagina known as bacterial vaginosis.
Experts are still not entirely sure why women get bacterial vaginosis on e thing is for sure that when they do it is a pretty nasty inflammation. many thing can crontribute but anything that upsets the natural balance or flora of the vaginas own bacteria can cause bacterial vaginosis, along with new sexual partners, douching and even using a IUD intrauterine device.
Higher incidences of lesbians have led some to theorize that the sexual exchange of vaginal secretions is a possible way for the BV to be passed on.
If you think you may have bacterial vaginosis you really should make an appointment to see your physician or doctor as soon as you can. Do not confuse bacterial vaginosis with a yeast infection, although simular a yeast infection discharge is much thicker and usually white and its not causesd by bacteria. if you think you have bacterial vaginosis get checked out as BV is often misdiagnosed.
Bacterial Vaginosis, although, rarely seen, can be found in some pre-pubescent girls. Always remember to wipe well and correctly after any bowel movements to help stop the spread of bacteria. It is imperative that mothers teach their daughters during potty training to wipe correctly, which is from front to back. And certianly not the other way round. it is normally quite a simple to treat mild inflammation that will usually clear up within a day or two. However, if the infection shows no signs of disappearing, the woman should contact her physician as soon as possible for treatment.
Many things contribute the developement of bacterial vaginosis, some things that do not help are the wearing of tight clothes or underwear and also the wearing of a thong, the material will rub between the anus and vagina spreading bacteria. bacterial vaginosis is much more common in sexually active women and usually occurs when a new sexually partner is introduced. Condoms provide protection against sexual transmitted diseaeses but bacterial vaginosis is not a sexually transmitted disease and there is no claim that spericide kills bacterial vaginosis.
Bacterial vaginosis is not a sexually transmitted disease although it can occur when a wmone has a new sexual partner. Virgins are also at risk of developing BV; however, there is no real answer why. Bacterial vaginosis occurs when the natural bacterial flora is biologicaly or chemically unbalnced. Some recent studies however have shown that getting partners treated for bacterial vaginosis have limited the cases of recurrent BV.
Although there does seem to be a link between sexual partners and sexual intercourse with bacterial vaginosis in is unnecessary to get your partner treated. It is best practice to get fully tested for bacterial vaginosis if one developes the inflammation, get partners checked out also.

March 21, 2009 herbs No Comments Rooibos or Red Bush Tea as it is also known is not a true tea but an herb which is indigenous to the Cederburg area of South Africa. Due to its widely publicized health benefits it has grown into a billion dollar export industry since the mid twentieth century.
The tea has no caffeine and only half the tannin of ordinary tea. Apart from being refreshing to drink, in place of ordinary tea and coffee, it has the advantage of containing minerals and powerful antioxidants. Having no oxalic acid it also does not irritate the kidneys.
The Japanese scientists, who did studies in the 1960s, discovered Rooibos contains a powerful antioxidant similar to SOD which is thought to retard aging and quercetin which is believed to have potent anti-inflammatory properties. Besides that Rooibos is also found to contain aspalathin which counteracts the atherosclerotic processes that result in heart disease. Due to this the Japanese promote it as an Anti-Aging Tea and import large quantities of the tea.
Research was done elsewhere where the French found that hair lotion containing Rooibos promoted faster hair growth with improvement in the hair condition and caused no allergic reactions. In South Africa research found that the polyphenol content in Rooibos is similar to green tea. Polyphenols help protect the body from damage by free radicals.
Rooibos has been found to be helpful with general health problems. It relieves digestive problems, nausea, vomiting, stomach cramps and constipation. Having a calming effect it helps with irritability, insomnia and depression.
Both pre natal and breast feeding Mothers supplement their intake of manganese, calcium and fluoride drinking Rooibos and therefore promote strong teeth and healthy bones in their babies. Rooibos, when applied at every nappy change, relieves nappy rash and when drunk by the baby relieves colic.
Preparation of Rooibos is the same as ordinary tea. First warm the tea pot with boiling water and then place one teaspoon of tea or tea bag per cup required in the pot. Pour over boiling water and let infuse for a few minutes. The longer it is left before drinking the more antioxidants the tea will contain. Can be served plain, with hot or cold milk or lemon. It can be lightly sweetened with honey or sugar or just left without any sweetening. Rooibos also makes a wonderful ice tea.
In South Africa Rooibos Tea is often used in day to day cooking as not only does it add important minerals and antioxidants to the diet and help digestion, it also enhances the flavors of the cooking. Just replace the water in a recipe with the tea.
Next time you are in your health shop or in a department store stocking specialty teas, why not pick up a packet and try it out.
