It may be fine for you to use vitamin K in an effort to improve the effectiveness of your colon cancer treatment plan, even though we don't yet have all the answers. However, talk to your doctor first, before you take vitamin K or any other dietary supplements. For some people, vitamin K may be worth a try. For others, however, the risks may far outweigh any possible benefit, and if this is the case, it is better to err on the side of caution and skip the vitamin K. With the help of your doctor, you can make an informed choice, while being sure to avoid harmful interactions with other medications you are taking. Only you and your doctor, working together, can decide what's right for you.

And this is worth the effort, because more than just about any other type of vegetable, cruciferous are the veggies consistently shown, with research, to have cancer-fighting properties. Even better is that there are almost no down sides to eating these foods. Critics may say that this is just one small study. But why wouldn't you eat these foods? Besides the fact that plenty of other studies support their ability to reduce cancer risk, keep in mind that these are the very same foods that research supports as decreasing risk of many of the diseases that ail a modern society - heart disease, diabetes, stroke, hypertension, and more.

Now that Obama has won the election, universal healthcare may be on the horizon. For many, "universal healthcare" is an emotionally-charged phrase that elicits visions of 1930s bread lines for poor-quality healthcare services. I had heard of prostate diseases for years but never thought much about it till a friend developed prostate problems.
His situation was enough to get me curious about prostate diseases.
First I learned that the prostate is a doughnut-shaped cluster of glands at the bottom of the bladder between the rectum and the base of the penis. It produces most of the fluid in semen.
I then learned that there are three main diseases of the prostrate: cancer, prostatitis and prostrate enlargement.
First let's talk about the 'big one', cancer.
In the USA, prostate cancer is the second leading cause of death for men after lung cancer.
African-American men are more than twice as likely to get the disease as any other ethnic group in the world. No one knows why this is so.
Prostate cancer is primarily a disease of aging. About 80 percent of all cases occur in men over sixty-five.
However, the rate of prostate cancer is rapidly rising in all men, even those under fifty. Generally, the younger a man is when he is diagnosed with prostate cancer, the worse his prognosis. Its increase among younger men points to the role of diet and exposure to environmental toxins in the development of the disease.
Prostatitis (prostate inflammation) is common in men of all ages. The usual cause is infectious bacteria that invade the prostate from another area of the body.
These can be either acute or chronic infections. Acute infections come on suddenly and may include fever and chills, pain and burning on urination and ejaculation, frequent urge to urinate while passing only small amounts of urine and blood in the urine. Symptoms of chronic prostatitis are similar but usually milder than the acute infection.
Prostatitis usually responds well to home care and antibiotic treatment.
Prostate enlargement seems to be a natural process, often associated with aging, and not necessarily a disease, but the gradual enlargement of the prostate. In the USA it occurs in about half of all men over fifty.
The major symptom is the need to pass urine frequently, perhaps with pain or burning feelings.
As prostate enlargement is often not a serious problem (though it depends on the case), let's talk about the other two prostate diseases.
Prostate cancer is usually a slow growing cancer, often with no symptoms until its advanced stages. Symptoms include: pain or a burning sensation during urination, frequent urination, a decrease in the size and force of urine flow, an inability to urinate, blood in the urine, and lower back discomfort. However, these symptoms may be caused by benign enlargement or prostatitis. To get an accurate reading of the condition professional evaluation is of course recommended.
For treatment, testing is important. This may include a rectal exam (which can be rather painful) and/or a blood test. Ultrasound scanning is one of a number of other tests.
Unfortunately, prostate cancer can be difficult to diagnose in its early stages. Many cases are diagnosed only after the cancer has spread outside the gland.
Some of the treatment options for prostate cancer include:
Experimental therapies such as cryoablation (freezing of cancer cells) and laser surgery are sometimes used.
If the cancer has spread into the capsule of the gland, the standard approach is some form of radiation therapy. Try to avoid this, as it leaves men impotent 50 percent of the time.
Removal of the gland may be recommended but consider that about 50 percent of men who have this done, even with the new "nerve sparing" techniques, become impotent. Watchful waiting, with nutritional support and lifestyle change, is becoming the preferred approach if the cancer is in the early stages.
Many consider prostate cancer to be one of the most over treated diseases in America. Physicians in Europe have long used a conservative nutritional approach with good results.
Research has shown that soybeans and soy products, such as tofu, soy flour and soymilk, have cancer-fighting powers due to the presence of a protein called genistein. It appears to be particularly effective against prostate cancer, but also works against breast cancer in women and colon cancer in both sexes.
Prostrate cancer prevention often includes a whole-foods diet, which was intriguing to me. Some suggestions include:
Eat whole grains, raw nuts and seeds, and brown rice. Also broccoli, Brussels sprouts, cabbage and cauliflower and carrots, pumpkin, squash and yams. This type of diet is important for both prevention and healing.
Also include apples, fresh cantaloupe, all kinds of berries, Brazil nuts, cherries, grapes, legumes (including chickpeas, lentils and red beans) and plums.
Try drinking freshly made vegetable and fruit juices daily.
Include foods high in zinc, such as whole grain cereals or brewer's yeast.
Use cold-pressed organic oils such as sesame, safflower or olive oil for essential fatty acids.
Eliminate red meat, alcohol and caffeine.
Strictly avoid: junk foods and refined foods. Instead of salt, use a kelp or potassium substitute. A little blackstrap molasses or pure maple syrup is a good, natural sweetener. Use whole wheat or rye instead of white flour.
These are good suggestions, but always seek counsel and alternative opinions before deciding which treatments or diets to use.
For prostatitis treatment, I found two general categories, one being home treatment, and then other treatments, generally.
For home treatment some recommendations are:
Drink 8 to 12 glasses of fluid daily. Extra fluids help flush the urinary tract clean.
Eliminate all alcohol and caffeine from your diet.
Keep stress under control.
Hot baths help soothe pain and reduce stress Aspirin or ibuprofen may help ease painful urinary symptoms
Certain herbal teas may help.
There are various types of hydrotherapy that a professional can advise you about.
Eat 1 to 4 ounces of raw pumpkin seeds every day. They are rich in zinc. Alternatively, take pumpkinseed oil in capsule form.
Get regular exercise. Do not ride a bicycle which may put pressure on the prostate.
Other treatment options include:
Treatment with antibiotics and analgesics may be necessary.
However, long-term use of antibiotics can lead to bacterial resistance, which necessitates more potent drugs, more expense, and more medical complications.
So "do it yourself" seems promising here, but of course one should always seek professional medical advice.
I would summarise what I researched that, as with any major disease an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.
Try to keep a healthy lifestyle, do things that seem useful and rewarding to you and don't be slow about getting medical checkups if you have any sense that something in your body may not be up to par.

I mmune-mediated nephritis contributes to disease in systemic lupus erythematosus, Goodpasture syndrome (caused by antibodies specific for glomerular basement membrane [anti-GBM antibodies]), and spontaneous lupus nephritis. Inbred mouse strains differ in susceptibility to anti-GBM antibodyinduced and spontaneous lupus nephritis. This study sought to clarify the genetic and molecular factors that may be responsible for enhanced immune-mediated renal disease in these models. When the kidneys of 3 mouse strains sensitive to anti-GBM antibodyinduced nephritis were compared with those of 2 control strains using microarray analysis, one-fifth of the underexpressed genes belonged to the kallikrein gene family, which encodes serine esterases. Mouse strains that upregulated renal and urinary kallikreins exhibited less evidence of disease. Antagonizing the kallikrein pathway augmented disease, while agonists dampened the severity of anti-GBM antibodyinduced nephritis. In addition, nephritis-sensitive mouse strains had kallikrein haplotypes that were distinct from those of control strains, including several regulatory polymorphisms, some of which were associated with functional consequences. Indeed, increased susceptibility to anti-GBM antibodyinduced nephritis and spontaneous lupus nephritis was achieved by breeding mice with a genetic interval harboring the kallikrein genes onto a disease-resistant background. Finally, both human SLE and spontaneous lupus nephritis were found to be associated with kallikrein genes, particularly KLK1 and the KLK3 promoter, when DNA SNPs from independent cohorts of SLE patients and controls were compared. Collectively, these studies suggest that kallikreins are protective disease-associated genes in anti-GBM antibodyinduced nephritis and lupus.

What this serves to colonic irrigation?

The body has four organs of elimination: the skin, kidneys, lungs, paunch: rightful is complete them that the body cleanserserss itself constantly.
Irrigation column: Sympathetic the general factor for detoxification: Irrigation column obliterate the pieces of material embedded power the intestinal mucosa ( eliminating pockets of lifelong inflammation associated secrete bacterial toxins ) to set up the peristaltic exercise, allows for more select interest of nutrients and promotes the hustle of the colon.

All natural colon cleansers come in many different forms. ... The benefits of all natural colon cleansers are tremendous and better than

The improvement of transit varies depending on the type of constipation, control plight of occasional constipation, associated with an event ( loss, surgery, travel... ), colonic irrigation allows a rapid re - route transit in the event chronic constipation, the improvement is more or less to obtain. Some dietary changes associated with mild laxative plants permettont a lasting improvement in the transit.
It is important to understand that colonic irrigation is not the recipe, and everyone can not improve its transit through this technique.

Indeed, the intestine is an organ very sensitive to stress and pain of relationships and psychological origins, which can cause digestive disorders including constipation type. On the other hand, improvement of transit disorders related adhesions ( possible mechanical complications after surgery ) is unlikely to simply using colonic irrigation.

Improving the condition of the intestinal flora: Irrigation of the colon allows the intestinal flora to rebalance by evacuation overload of toxins and bacteria.
Serve as a complement to other therapies: Bowel preparation before sigmoidoscopy, colonoscopy or barium enema.

Natural colon cleansers are a complete colon treatment in itself. The product is safe to use and is made from natural herbal extracts and fiber rich psyllium. It has a multiiaction formula, which not only cleanses the colon tract but also detoxifies your body organs. You dont have to worry about your diet. Just have anything and you will be free of parasites and other bacterial collection. Colon cleanser will give you slim and healthy looks and when you go out the next time, you dont have to worry about your loosely hanging flab. Involuntary detoxification ( diet, fasting,... ).

In summary we can say that irrigation of the colon ( with a healthy diet ) ensures its smooth operation, enhances natural immunity and prevents degeneration.

It is important to know that there are several types of Vitamin E. Vitamin E is actually a generic name for eight separate compounds. Some members of the vitamin E family are called tocopherols. These members include alpha tocopherol, beta tocopherol, gamma tocopherol, and delta tocopherol. Other members of the vitamin E family are called tocotrienols. These members include alpha, beta, gamma, and delta tocotrienol. Both groups all blended together in plants and animals, which is why the best form of vitamin E comes from your food.
The first research on vitamin E carried out by the Shute brothers early in the 19th century, showed that in rats, one part of vitamin E, alpha tocopherol, appeared more potent since it was necessary for successful pregnancy and production of offspring. For this reason, the Shutes named the vitamin "tocopherol," from the Greek word meaning "to give birth."
Nearly all of the clinical research on vitamin E has used alpha-tocopherol. The results have shown that alpha-tocopherol is useful as a heart-protective nutrient. Gamma-tocopherol has been shown to have a greater effect than alpha-tocopherol in inhibiting the formation of nitric-oxide-derived free radicals, which appears to be a factor in the origination and development of heart disease.
Researchers at the University of Uppsala, Sweden carried out a study to see whether measurements of blood vitamin E concentrations can contribute to differences between subjects with and without coronary heart disease. Sixty-nine male patients, below 60 years of age, with coronary heart disease were compared with 138 healthy male subjects of similar ages. They found a significantly lower gamma tocopherol concentration and a high ratio between alpha and gamma tocopherol in the coronary heart disease group compared with the healthy subjects thereby indicating a difference in antioxidative status between groups. (Journal of Internal Medicine. 1996 Feb;239(2):111-7).
Alpha tocopherol is not the most potent form of vitamin E. Too much of it can actually hinder the absorption of other types of vitamin E.
Recent studies indicate that gamma-tocopherol may be important to human health and that it possesses unique features that distinguish it from alpha-tocopherol.
While the type of vitamin E usually used in supplements is alpha-tocopherol, research published in the December 2004 issue of the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences indicates another form of vitamin E, gamma-tocopherol, but not alpha-tocopherol, inhibits prostate cancer cells from multiplying, without affecting healthy prostate cells.
Rush University's Martha Clare Morris, Sc.D., lead nutrition researcher for CHAP, the Chicago Health and Aging Project, found a 67% lower risk of Alzheimer's in subjects with the highest intakes of vitamin E from food and concluded: "The results suggest that various tocopherol forms rather than alpha-tocopherol alone may be important in the vitamin E protective association with Alzheimer's disease."
Researchers at the University of California conducted a study using rats that concluded there was strong evidence that gamma-tocopherol, but not alpha-tocopherol, showed anti-inflammatory activities that may be important for human disease prevention and therapy. (FASEB J. 2003 May;17(8):816-22).
The importance of this study is that inflammatory diseases such as rheumatoid arthritis, asthma, and hepatitis are among the leading causes of death and disability in the world. Chronic inflammation contributes to the development of degenerative diseases, including cancer, cardiovascular diseases, and neurodegenerative disorders (nervous system degeneration).
Gamma-tocopherol concentrations in the blood have been reported to be significantly lower in coronary heart disease patients compared to healthy subjects, suggesting that the low gamma-tocopherol concentrations increased the risk of coronary heart disease.
Newly recognized properties of gamma-tocopherol provide a basis for its superior cancer preventive activity. A possible reason for the protective effects in the presence of high gamma-tocopherol concentrations is that gamma-tocopherol enhances the cellular uptake of alpha-tocopherol. Our data show that gamma-tocopherol accumulates in colon cancer cells at a twenty fold increase over alpha-tocopherol. Higher concentrations of tocopherols are being tested, but have resulted in cell death in three colon cancer cell lines. (BMC Cancer 2003, 3:25 (1 October 2003) Open access.)
High doses of alpha-tocopherol deplete gamma-tocopherol
These distinguishing features of gamma-tocopherol and its metabolite suggest that gamma-tocopherol may contribute significantly to human health in ways not recognized previously. This possibility should be further evaluated, especially considering that high doses of alpha-tocopherol deplete plasma [blood] and tissue gamma-tocopherol, in contrast with supplementation with gamma-tocopherol, which increases both. (The American Journal of Clinical Nutrition. 2001 Dec;74(6):714-22).
Moreover, we found the presence of gamma-tocopherol dramatically influenced the cellular accumulation of alpha-tocopherol, i.e., gamma-tocopherol promoted the accumulation of alpha-tocopherol. The potential health related significance of gamma-tocopherol is being increasingly recognized. (Nutrition Journal 2002, 1:2).
While alpha-tocopherols are the most widely used, and have enormous health benefits, gamma, beta and delta tocopherols also offer important benefits. Supplementing with mixed tocopherols should derive the benefits of both alpha-tocopherol and gamma-tocopherol, without creating an imbalance in these two forms of vitamin E. Supplements containing this wide variety of vitamin E forms are usually referred to as "mixed tocopherol" or "mixed tocotrienol" supplements.
Remember to take your vitamin E with some sort of fat or oil for better absorption as it is a fat soluble vitamin.
According to [Maret] Traber and [Scott] Leonard, this indicates that people who are taking vitamin E supplements only with liquids on an empty stomach are accomplishing nothing and getting few if any benefits from the supplements. The vitamin clearly is absorbed better if it is part of, or closely associated with the digestion of a food that has some fat in it. (David Stauth, Oregon State University, The Linus Pauling Institute 15/1/2004).
Most vitamin E supplements contain synthetic alpha-tocopherol, but unlike some other vitamins, synthetic vitamin E is not identical to natural. Vitamin E supplements are labelled d-alpha for natural and dl-alpha for synthetic. If the label lists "dl-alpha-tocopherol", it's not the real thing.
This is most clearly shown by comparing natural with synthetic vitamin E. Both have identical antioxidant activities, yet the natural vitamin E has roughly twice the availability of synthetic vitamin E. (The American Journal of Clinical Nutrition. 1998 Apr;67(4):669-84).
Japanese researchers found that natural vitamin E at 100 mg per day was not different from that of 300 mg per day of synthetic vitamin E in seven normal, healthy women aged 21-37 years. (Am J Clin Nutr. 1997 Mar;65(3):785-9).
You can get the best forms of vitamin E through your food. Fruits, green leafy vegetables, whole grains, olive oil, sunflower oil, safflower oil, oily fish (salmon, mackerel and sardines), eggs, natural organ meats and nuts are good sources of vitamin E. Most of these foods give you the entire vitamin E family..

The gaps between research, practice and policy, in all configurations, significantly impair the rapidity of progress for improving health care. Given the tremendous disease burdens associated with drug abuse, problem alcohol and mental health conditions, and the impact of these conditions on other medical disorders, better alignment is needed to link the often separate areas of behavioral services research into a more integrative behavioral health services research (BHSR) platform.

Today Its more important than ever to detoxify harmful chemicals, pesticides and heavy metals due to the stressful conditions in which our food sources are created to meet current demands. Environmental toxins also play a big role in the increase of disease and poor health. For anyone who is truly interested in reclaiming their own health, one must assume some responsibility to do so. Yes we live in a toxic society so it behooves us to do our homework to find out what is workable and safe to consume that will help us resolve the condition that needs to be handled.
Certain medicines and herbs may not react well together and this is where your homework comes in. In this article I will do my best to give you the most accurate information I can but if you are unsure, consult a medical practitioner.
Here are lists of herbs that may help to detox and feed the body:
Wormwood- cleanses the colon of worms and also works as a mild sedative. (Should not be taken by women who are pregnant or nursing).
Black walnut husk- cleanses the intestines of parasites, helps in digestion, works well in fungal infections.
Cloves- Also aids in digestion, clears out parasites.
Cascara Sagrada- works as a laxative to help people who suffer from constipation, a great colon cleanser. (Do not use on a regular basis as it can be habit forming. Follow manufacturer instructions.)
Cayenne Pepper- a wonderful herb that does many things including; helps the heart, kidneys, lungs, stomach, aids in digestion and is good for sinus problems, colds and sore throats. Cayenne is rich in folic acid, vitamins B1, B2, B3 and B6, vitamin A and C.
Burdock Root- is a very good blood cleanser and helps the immune system, helps the liver and gallbladder to function better. (Do not take iron and burdock at the same time. They cancel each other out).
Corn Silk- aids the intestines, bladder and kidneys. Corn silk is one of those herbs that work well in combination with other kidney cleansing herbs.
Milk Thistle- for liver problems this herb is a must. It restores liver cells and is a great antioxidant. Milk thistle also aids the kidney and digestive disorders.
Cats Claw- good for intestinal disorders and enhances white blood cell action. (Pregnant women should avoid cats claw).
Cranberry- great for the urinary tract as bacteria cannot survive in cranberrys acidity.
Horsetail- contains silica which is absolutely necessary for bones, hair and skin. Its wonderful for strengthening the heart. It flushes out toxins when taken with a lot of water.
Pau-darco - A very good blood cleanser, has antibacterial properties and strengthens the immune system.
Rosemary- Helps to prevent liver toxicity has anti-tumor properties and stimulates circulation and digestion.
Yellow dock- cleanses the blood, cleans the colon and is good for liver disease. Also good for all types of skin disorders.
Yerba mate- cleanses the blood, helps with allergies, constipation and inflammation.
Parsley- This herb does many good things for the body such as stops tumors from multiplying, helps the kidneys, bladder, stomach, liver and lungs. Helps the thyroid function better, helps in lowering blood pressure, aids in kidney and prostate conditions.
A good multi vitamin and mineral supplement is recommended to help reduce free radical damage and give important nutrients to the body. NOTE: minerals should be taken at a different time from vitamins because some minerals will cancel out some of the vitamins.
Intake of clean fresh water is vital in not only in the cleansing process, but also in necessary hydration for the body. This is so important that if you did nothing else than drink eight glasses of water per day, you would be much farther ahead. You would not expect a toilet to flush without water, so it is with your body. You need water to flush toxins and waste from the body.
Foods that help you detox and alkalize the body:
Most vegetables
Most fruits
Maple syrup
Molasses
Soy products
Most vegetable and fruit juices, preferably raw fresh organic made from a juicer.
Water and lots of it.
(vegetables and fruit that are acid forming are: Asparagus, brussel sprouts, chickpeas, cranberries, canned or glazed fruit).
To keep indoor air clean you can get a good ion air purifier and a good vacuum with a Hepa filter. (Spraying the air with perfumed air cleaner products is not recommended because it does not take pollutants out of the air).
Ionic foot baths are also good for helping the body to detox and assist in the reduction of pain of all sorts.
Negative ions are very beneficial for a body and are in abundance in forests, fast moving rivers and water falls or just strolling down the beach. (The footbath mimics this) Get out of the city once in a while and rejuvenate your mind, body and spirit and get well.

Cancer involves mutations, or changes, in genes. In most people affected by cancer, these genetic changes happen after birth later in life. In Hereditary Cancer, the cancer is caused by a genetic mutation that the person was born with. Some cancers, such as breast, ovary and colon tend to be hereditary, but that doesnt mean that you will develop a cancer in one of these areas if you have an immediate family member that has experienced the disease. Not all genetic mutations will develop into cancer, however, the mutation will increase the chance that the person will have a higher risk of developing cancer.
Only 10% of all breast cancer cases are thought to be hereditary. Some of the factors that increase the occurrence of hereditary breast cancer are breast cancer before age 45, male breast cancer, cancer in both breasts and many cases of breast and/or ovarian cancer on one side of the family. If you have two relatives from the same side of your family with breast cancer, your risk of getting the disease can be increased. However it does not mean that you will definitely get breast cancer. You also must keep in mind that the risk for hereditary cancer can be passed on from your mother or your father. You must look at both sides of the family.
The two hereditary mutations that are looked at for breast cancer are
CA1 and
CA2. The test for these two genetic factors are done by taking a blood sample. Both of these
CA mutations (
east CAncer 1 and 2) are associated with breast and ovarian cancers.
So what factors should you consider when thinking about genetic testing? The age and onset of breast cancer. What other types of cancer are present. What other family members have/had cancer and their relationship to you. When you meet with a genetic counselor, they will go over your familys medical history and information. This will include first-degree relatives, such as your parents, siblings and children. second-degree relatives like grandparents, aunts and uncles and your third-degree relatives or cousins.
Genetic testing can help a breast cancer patient make decisions about types of treatment and follow-care. A woman with the one of the
CA mutations may decide to have both breasts removed completely to help reduce the risk of reoccurrence. Having your healthy breasts or ovaries removed to prevent cancer is called a prophylactic surgery and many women who test positive for the genetic mutations decide to go that route. They may just decide to take Tamoxifen to lower their risk.
Not only can women take advantage of risk reduction techniques based on the results of their genetic testing, there are also increased surveillance tools that can help high risk individuals with early detection. Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) and ultrasound are two tools that can be combined with a mammogram to detect breast cancer in its most treatable stage.
Not every person who carries a genetic mutation will develop cancer. You must remember that genetic testing does not detect breast cancer and it will not tell you if you will get breast cancer in your lifetime. The decision to participate in genetic testing is very personal and there is no right or wrong choice in making the decision to have it done.

Colorectal cancer prevention and diet have a lot in common.
After all, your colon and your rectum are responsible for things like nutrient absorption, water management and elimination of waste.
You dont need a scientist to tell you that garbage in equals garbage out. But lets hear what the experts have to say anyway.
Many studies on colorectal cancer prevention and diet have found that red and processed meats are a major contributor. However, a group of doctors in France were unconvinced by existing evidence and decided to do a comprehensive study for themselves.
So they followed a mere 478,040 men and women for nearly five years and finally concluded that red and processed meat was positively a cause of colon cancer AND that eating fish actually considerably reduced a persons risk. [Journal of the National Cancer Institute, Vol. 15;97:906-16]
This isnt the only research that implicated omega 3 oil from fish as a factor in reducing colorectal cancer.
Doctors associated with the New York University Womens Health Study closely watched 14,727 women for an average of 7 years. They found a progressive decline in risk of colorectal cancer with increasing intake of fish and shellfish.
And theres more. They also found a similar decline in the risk for women inversely proportionate to the amount of calcium they consumed. In laymens terms, that means the women who ate the most calcium had the lowest risk.
But interestingly, they werent as certain about the red meat connection as our friends in France were. As a matter of fact, the doctors at NYU said the association of red meat to colorectal cancer remains unclear. [Nutrition %26 Cancer, Vol. 28:276-81]
Another fascinating study out of Harvard suggests that its not so much the red meat and fats, but rather our lifestyle that causes the problem.
They cite obesity, physical inactivity, a diet low in vegetables and fruit, while high in red meat and processed foods, all contributes to one common denominator of this lifestyle high levels of insulin in the blood!
The researchers hypothesize that elevated blood insulin promotes colon carcinogenesis because insulin is a growth factor that causes cellular division of epithelial cells in the colon. [Cancer Causes %26 Control, Vol. 6, No. 2:164-79]
So what are we to do about colorectal cancer prevention and diet? Its easy as pie as long as you dont eat the pie.
Stick with whole foods, including lots of vegetables, fresh fruit, whole grains and other fiber rich foods, unprocessed oils, like extra virgin olive oil, lean meats (mostly fish and chicken, but an occasional T-bone wont hurt), low fat dairy and plenty of pure water.
Studies suggest its important to cut way back on alcohol, practice stress management and exercise regularly (very important!)
Following these guidelines will not only reduce your risk of colorectal cancer, but many other cancers as well, plus heart disease and diabetes too. And it will also improve your vim, vigor and vitality!
